The Black Keys - Sister

Afternoon. So This is my first (real) post. I couldn't really think of anything decent to start with so as you can see below, I put in an ultimately random related video (do not fear. This is not a Jamie Cullum fanzone blog).

The Black Keys seemed, however, like a good thing to get my creative linguistic skills flowing over. I know that who ever may be reading this doesn't know much (/anything) about me yet, but more will come later. I simply wanted to type about this rad new Black Keys tune - Sister.

A lot of rumours have been coming out about what the new album will be like, but to me it seems that with every album comes a chronologically fresh new progression - El Camino hopefully being no exception. With no massive changes or brand new direction, the subtle overall change from the gritty sound of The Big Come Up can clearly be seen throughout all their albums. Better production (with more money) arguably comes more radio friendly songs. This isn't always the greatest thing, but at least they haven't done a Kings of Leon - this is still garage-blues-funk-jam rock at its best, and the boys definitely have not lost their soul.

Its good to see also that they are starting to get a lot more recognition, especially here in the UK. Their original one day show at Alexandra Palace (which is a pretty big venue in fairness) has now been extended twice to now being a 3 day residence. Props goes to the boys for not loosing touch with their roots and again releasing a fantastic track. The harmony's are sweet, the guitars clean and cheerful, and the drums, tight yet smooth as always.

And in case you haven't seen it, this video for the also new song 'Lonely Boy' is one of the most budget, yet greatest videos I have seen in a long time. The song is sick and the video, hilariously captivating.

(Hope that was okay for a first post..)

S xo
